Protect Your Shoes

A few weeks back, I was shopping for new work shoes and came across these beauties. I had to get them! They’re adorable AND were 50% off. I won’t be wearing these every day in a hoarder’s house, but I thought they’d be perfect for days I am doing assistant work or small organizing projects… and obviously when I just want to add some spice to a cute outfit.

The only problem I have with my new shoes is how white they are. I’m not the messiest person, but I’m definitely not the cleanest either. I think I take after my dad. We always joke about how much food he’d have on his belly after a meal… I don’t have a belly to catch if I miss. Naturally, I am worried about keeping my shoes white. I know it isn’t realistic to keep them in perfect shape if I’m planning on wearing them, but I do have a way to make them easier to clean.

A couple years ago, I got some new shoes from Clarks and got this spray with them. Originally, I got it to help with waterproofing but a protective layer will help keep the shoes from staining too. All you do is take the shoe laces out, put the shoes outside, spray them carefully from about 6” away, and let them dry for at least half an hour. I let it sit for an hour in the shade and then did a second coat. The picture at the top of this post is after a few days of wear, running around in the yard with 5 dogs, and standing in the dirt to throw axes. I think it’s working so far! Go get yourself some spray and protect your shoes! It’s worth it. 😊 As always, if you take any fun pictures or videos, tag me on Instagram @SmileMakePeopleWonder and use the hashtag #DandelionSmiles.
