I was having a conversation with someone the other day, and the topic of rock collections came up. I feel like most millennial women I know collect rocks in some way or anotherβ¦ he disagreed and said it must just be my friends. So I did the only rational thing I could think of and made a Facebook post. Turns out, more people collect rocks than I thought. Some buy them and some find cool ones on the ground. Iβm a mixture of both, but finding them definitely makes me happier! Like the time I found this one outside a client’s house and it was a smooth white stone about half the size of my palm. It just felt meant to be. But thatβs not why I wanted to bring it up to you.
While helping people organize their homes and downsize, Iβve been able to see what people collect. There have been stamps, coins, rocks, flow blue, Christmas dΓ©cor, magazines, and so many more interesting things. Ever since I was little, Iβve always wanted to collect something special. Since nothing felt right, I just collected a bunch of things and hoped something would click. As of now, I have a small collection of Catβs Meows. Theyβre super cute little wooden blocks painted like buildings usually (https://www.catsmeow.com/). Every once in a while, I will find some at a garage sale; but my parents bought me a couple, like the one of my high school. I guess thatβs the one that stuck?

Now that Iβm reflecting on it, I think I collect Catβs Meows because they remind me of my grandma. Iβm not 100% sure why, I donβt think she had many. But they make me think of her when I look at them. And they remind me of home. I could put up pictures of my home town, but it seems more fitting to have little blocks of some more memorable buildings and be able to change them in and out. What do you collect and why? Does it remind you of someone, or is it just pretty?
